Independent bottling is not a modern invention. It is one of the oldest traditions in Irish whiskey — a practice stretching back to the earliest days of the trade, when merchants selected, matured, and bottled whiskey under their own names and their own standards.
That tradition faded. For a long time, Irish whiskey belonged almost entirely to a handful of large distilleries, and the merchant's art was largely lost. W.D. O'Connell exists to change that — to restore the independent bottler's role at the heart of Irish whiskey culture.
